As CFO, he leads the Finance, HR and IT organizations, with added responsibilities for Business Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Legal and Investor Relations. His job profile was expanded in 2017 to include Human Resources and IT including ERP implementation. In his current role, Shawn devotes a lot of his time on Finance Operations & Reporting, Insurance, Risk Management, Board management, etc. and was instrumental in working with the external auditor, BDO who came on board during his tenure in 2017.
Shawn, as a seasoned Business Leader, is a UK-trained, qualified chartered accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (1982), with articleship at Deloitte Haskins and Sells, London Office. He holds a Bachelor degree in Accountancy from University of Hull, England in 1979.
He has 30+ years of diversified experience, namely in Finance, Corporate Governance and Compliance, Internal Audits, P&L Management and Operations acquired collectively from four progressive MNCs, namely: DHL, Applied Materials, Texas Instruments and Deloitte.
This experience profile translates to 16 years of Manufacturing experience (with Texas Instruments and GLG), 6+ years of Sales & Service industry experience (in semiconductor-equipment maker, Applied Materials) followed by 12+ years of Supply Chain/Logistics industry experience (with DHL). Lately, he has added 2+ years of experience in the Apparel industry with his current role at GLG Corp Ltd, which is an Australian-listed company on the ASX, that manufactures and markets wholesale apparel for clients in the U.S. and Europe.
During his role as CFO for DHL (for SE Asia) and Senior Finance Director for Applied Materials, he was instrumental in setting up joint-ventures (in Vietnam), mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations with external parties. As the Head of Internal Audits for Texas Instruments and DHL, he discovered fraud and certain management malpractices. He has extensive experience in risk assessment and corporate compliance and governance. When he was the GM for Operations in DHL, he led the Operations unit for airfreight, ocean freight and warehousing services. He managed the P&L for the warehousing business unit with strong business acumen and commercial sense, resulting in business turnaround to profitability.
